Photojournale : Photo documentary and photo journal stories from around the world
Alfonso De Castro |
|
Alfonso de Castro is a photographer whose body of work spans two
decades and covers five continents. He has contributed to many
publications, conferences and exhibitions as a professor of Fine Arts
at the University of Barcelona. No area of photography has escaped
his attention. His portfolio contains stunning color and black and
white images of various styles and formats. He is adept at using a
wide variety of techniques and is proficient in many disciplines
including portrait, pinhole, and panoramic photography. De Castro
also finds inspiration in the genesis of photography incorporating
alternative and historical methods such as the Platinum/Palladium,
Argyrotype, and the Cyanotype Processes into his body of work. Few
forge the technical knowledge, the historical and critical perspective
and the mastery of various genres into the cunning eye of the
photographer. Whether it be in his native city of Zaragoza (Spain),
in the jungles of Rwanda, or in China, Alfonso de Castro is always in
search of the elusive rays of light which, in conjunction with the
right scene and an effervescent slice of life, contribute to a
powerful photograph.
