Description: |
In 1970, Khmer Rouge guerrillas increased their military campaign against the Cambodian government. In 1975, they took control and Cambodia was converted into a Communist state. This period was one of horrifying brutality as thousands of children and teens were killed, deemed as political prisoners by Khmer interrogation centers. An estimated one third of the total population died during the years of Khmer Rouge rule from 1975 to 1979. |
