Description: |
"Meels" (Clubs) are one of the main tools of Pahlevani sport. Clubs are made of wood in the shape of ancient maces. With a handle at one end, Meels vary in weight from seven to fifty kilograms. To practice the Meel exercise, the athletes pick couple of Meels & rotate them around their shoulders in harmonious response to the drumbeat and chanting of the Morshed. This movement was originally created to make men ready for carrying and using maces. A special type of light meels are used by very skillful athletes for various dexterous actions performed for entertainment before the main exercise. |
